Art and other things for the half-term break

Here’s a few things you might like to do if you have lots of spare time over the half term break:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround  Interesting, fun articles and videos, that might inspire you.

https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors at least 100 ideas of things you can do or play at home.

Ideas for artwork over the holiday:

1. Take a sketch book/paper and pencils outside. spend some time investigating plants. Make some observational drawings. This is your chance to extend the work we did when learning about Charles Darwin. Draw as much detail as you can. Now make detailed sketches of other plants, flowers or leaves. Look for similarities between the plants and for differences. Could you begin to classify them?

2. Ask permission from an adult before you start this one! If you have access to an outside space and chalk you can create all sorts of artwork on a large scale. Here’s one example.

If you really want an inspirational challenge, have a look at the work of this amazing artist who creates chalk art that looks 3d. Click the link below

3. Art recreation. Choose a famous work of art and recreate it! You don’t have to put yourself (or any people) in the picture; it can be made of objects. Here are some examples:
Bakhtiar Umarov’s Folk Humour

Pablo Picasso’s Weeping Woman

Please post pictures of all your artwork onto padlet by clicking here https://padlet.com/cargyle/y6homelearning and adding a post, by clicking on the  +  sign in the bottom right corner.

Of course, you don't have to wait until the half term hols; there's nothing stopping you from starting as soon as you are ready and continuing for as long as you like. I hope you have fun with these activities.

Wishing everyone a restful break next week.
