New term, new topic

Image
This week, in Year 6, as scientists, we have been learning about the heart and our circulatory system. We had Ms Taylor’s sister, a nurse, come into to share some facts about the heart and answer our questions. We asked our parents about our blood type, we found out how many people had A+, B- etc and then we created pie charts to show this. As writers, we have been exploring poetry about the heart and feelings. We wrote our own poems about blood and from the viewpoint of the heart. Mulbarton Primary School is celebrating having a school on this site for 50 years. To celebrate this, we designed what our school might look like in 50 years time. Also to celebrate our schools 50th anniversary we are having a 70s themed day where we are dressing up as people from the 70s; we are looking forward to seeing you at the school disco.

We made lotus flowers this week. These are our lotus flowers. We had our internet cafe. We used toothpaste; it was very messy! We also made buzzers for our quiz; it was fun. We write a story which we write it you our knowledge of speech.

a shadowy week

This week we have continued learning about light and shadow in science. We investigated shadows and came up with an explanation of how they are made. As mathematicians, we have all been working on different topics in our revision groups. We all seem to agree that working in smaller groups helps with our learning. We had lots of fun with maths today and added up the total of all our numbers: Jaguars: 405 272 050 Snow Leopards: 9698.75 We have been practising description in English lessons: creating atmosphere and suspense. In Jaguars class we enjoyed our afternoon of art, as a reward for earning so many dojos (over 2500 since September)! Next week is our learning cafe (Wednesday morning), where we will be learning about internet safety.

27-31 Blog What Yr 6 have been doing this week!

This week, Yr 6  have started revision groups for our S.A.T.s tests in May. In science we have been working with electrical circuits in groups. We have been investigating the source of light from graphite. We decided to make it a fair test by shutting all the blinds and turning off all the lights. In P.E we did silent dancing with chairs pretending to wait for a train. We turned it into a dance routine with a beat of 4 and 8. We enjoyed the all the lessons so far this week.👍

electrical circuits, gadgets and computers

Image
Thursday 23rd January 2020 We had a brilliant start to the week by making timelines about the history of computing. On Tuesday, we were making electric circuits. We had to make the light bulb light up using graphite as a conductor. We then measured the brightness and moved the clipps 1cm away each time. We found out about booster sessions and are maths groups aswell. More about are gadgets next week. Bye Bye

Enjoying learning!

This week, we have continued to read our mystery book. We had to do a roll on the wall about the main character, Alex. A roll on the wall is when you describe a character; using feelings on the inside and description on the outside. We have also been doing some end of KS2 tests, preparing us for our SATs later in the year. In PE, we have been dancing and had a taste tester of tennis. As mathematicians, we have been learning about converting FDP (fractions, decimals and percentages). We are all enjoying learning new things and working hard.

This week, we started a new book; about a boy called Alex!  We also started a new year with a new topic. TOMORROW'S WORLD.  On Monday we investigated the robbery of the Staff-room's biscuits who was stolen by Miss Ship.                                             In math we have been learning FDP which means fractions, decimals and percentages  We are really enjoying are new term and cant wait to see what comes to the future 👍
